5 more photos that instantly prove your expertise
Photos are crucial for your online presence. They accomplish one of the key tasks of any website: to humanize your business online. What’s more, they can also show visual proof of your credentials.
In the Essentials section of this book, we discussed the minimum photo requirements needed to win prospects’ interest and avoid most bounces. Now I want to share with you more advanced photo tactics to increase your website’s credibility further. Below are five photos I recommend you publish on your site.
1. Glamour shots of the office
If you have big, impressive looking offices, don’t make clients swing by to see them. Instead, show them off. Glamour shots of your office give prospective clients a virtual tour of your workspace before you even meet them
What’s more, nice offices show your company makes money. And people tend to think that profitable businesses offer legitimate services, even if that’s not always the case. Point being, impressive office photos make your business appear more credible. And that means website visitors are more likely to do business with you, and potentially even visit your offices in person one day. So be liberal with your office photos. Take shots of your 80-inch HD TV, your dozens of Mac computers and your expansive open workspace.
2. You and your team active in the community
Photos of you and your team active at networking events, fundraisers or conferences accomplish two things. First, they show you have staff members, proving you’re not a one-person operation running out of your parents’ basement.
Two, they demonstrate you’re active in the community and at events. Different events reveal different characteristics of your business. For example, your team at a fundraiser shows that your business gives back and has a good heart, while photos of your team at a conference communicate your company stays atop trends. Either way, these types of photos show you’re a real business with real employees, engaged in the community.
3. You and your clients lookin’ like buddies
What is a client’s ultimate goal? To be happy with a product or service. Photos of you and your team smiling with clients reveals an end result all prospects want: to be happy with any product or service they invest money in.
So show website visitors that you’ve made your past clients happy. And if you want to up the credibility even more, snap a photo with you, your client and the next thing on this list.
4. Pictures of a job well done
What could be better than a picture of you with a happy client? Easy: include the completed project in the photo, too. If you’re a marketing company, maybe that means a photo of you and your client holding their completed brand book. If you’re an interior designer, it could be you and the client in their newly redesigned kitchen.
All clients want results. So don’t make them guess whether you can deliver. Show them with a photo, even if it’s just the completed work (without you or the client in the picture). For a website company, this could simply be screenshots of websites you’ve completed. If you’re a gym selling memberships, show images of your fit clients with six-pack abs, bulging biceps and toned legs. When clients can see the results you’ve achieved for others, they’ll believe you can do the same for them.
5. Images that showcase your awards
Ever won awards? Don’t be shy. Just like we talked about in the previous chapter, take some photos and flaunt them on your Home or About page. Seeing a physical award is impressive. It boosts credibility by not only showing you can deliver results, but that those results are outstanding and have been publicly acknowledged. That’s a big deal. So if you have the goods, be sure to let the world know with some photos on your website.
